Dr. Frank Serafini is currently an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education and Children's Literature at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He teaches courses in Children's Literature, Literary Theory, and Literacy Research. Before coming to Las Vegas, Frank was an elementary school teacher for nine years in Phoenix, AZ, and spent three years as a literacy specialist in K-6 classrooms. Frank received his Masters degree in Elementary Education and his PhD in Reading Education at Arizona State University. Frank received the Distinguished New Faculty Award at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Frank spends a great deal of time in elementary and middle school classrooms providing staff development workshops and conducting research focusing on reading instruction and children's literature. He is currently a lead advisory for Pearson Education Canada's comprehensive literacy resource Literacy in Action. He is the author of several other Pearson professional titles, including Around the Literacy Workshop in 180 Days.
